Office Costume Day – Just like a casual day but even more fun! Prior to Lunch Money Day, staff pay $5 each for the opportunity to dress in their favourite costume.

Company Sponsored Lunch - The Lunch Money Day representative in your company organizes a company sponsored staff lunch (ex. pizza party, lasagna lunch, etc.). Management buys the lunch, and staff make a donation to partake in the meal.

Sell Lunch Money Day Raffle Tickets - Stay tuned for a complete listing of this year's raffle prizes – we sell out every year!

Executives prepare lunch for employees and accept donations to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Brown bag lunch exchange - remember to have participants donate their lunch money!

Host a Wii Tournament. Colleagues form teams of 4, come up with creative names such as “Wii Not Fit” or “Unrivaled Wii Sistas” and pay a set entrance fee to fundraise.

Have a bake sale.

Hold a jeans dress down day.

Raffle off a lunch with your boss.

Invite neighbouring companies to a get to know you lunch to increase awareness and donations.

Create a fundraising competition with a neighbouring company.

Have your company donate soup or desserts on Lunch Money Day to accompany brown bag lunches, which everyone will bring from home - a great way to get together!

And don't forget to ask your company if they have a matching program.

 

Fundraising Tips for Schools

Get approval to put Lunch Money Day on your school calendar, school website, outdoor sign and in your newsletter.

Make PA announcements and visit homeroom classes.

Organize an assembly or explain the importance of Second Harvest through a discussion session.

Have a class party and have students make donations in exchange for a healthy and delicious meal.

Dress Down or Pajama Day - Prior to Lunch Money Day, students donate money in exchange for the opportunity to wear casual clothes on your school's designated Lunch Money Day.

Teacher Karaoke - Want to see your favourite teachers embarrass themselves in front of the whole school? Organize a teacher karaoke and set a price that students have to raise for each teacher to hear them sing!

Set a Challenge!­ Is your school divided into houses? Does your school have a rival school? Do you want to compete against another grade? Organize a school assembly and challenge another house or grade to see who can raise the most funds for Lunch Money Day.

Fundraising Tips for Individuals

Send an email to your friends and family asking them to support your fundraiser and help feed hungry people in our community.

Host a delicious dinner party and ask each of your guests to make a minimum $20 donation to Second Harvest in exchange for delicious food and drink.

Challenge yourself – give up eating out, smoking, chewing gum, watching TV, eating meat – give it up for a week, a month or for good. Whether you’re planning to quit a bad habit or take up a good one, invite your friends and family to sponsor your efforts by donating toward your Lunch Money Day fundraiser.

Have a Soup Party – organize a friend or two to help you prepare 3 different homemade soups. Ask family and friends  to make a $5 donation for the chance to samples these delicious soups. You can even approach your local bakery and ask if they will donate breads or pastries to your event.

Set a fitness goal – run in a 5K race, lose 10 lbs. or walk for 20 minutes everyday – ask your friends to support you by donating toward your Lunch Money Day fundraiser.

Clean up the streets! Offer to shovel your neighbours’ driveways in exchange for a donation to your Lunch Money Day fundraiser.
