What is Lunch Money Day?
Lunch Money Day is a grassroots campaign that asks Torontonians to run fundraisers in support of Second Harvest. Last year, over 250 companies ran Lunch Money Day fundraisers and helped raise enough funds to provide food for close to 500,000 meals! This year YOU can help raise funds to provide food for over 525,000 meals. Lunch Money Day is Thursday February 16, 2012. On this day, volunteers are out across the city asking Torontonians to donate the equivalent of their lunch money to Second Harvest. For every $10 donation, Second Harvest can provide 20 healthy meals for those in need.

Do I have to run Lunch Money Day fundraiser in February?
No, you can run a Lunch Money Day fundraiser anytime during the year.
Is Lunch Money Day just one day?
No, you can make your Lunch Money Day fundraiser last as long as you like – one day, one week or even one month. There is one public day which is February 16. On this day, Lunch Money Day volunteers are across the city asking for donations from the public.
Can I run a Lunch Money Day fundraiser even if everyone in my office brings their lunch?
You do not have to literally bring your lunch to be part of a Lunch Money Day fundraiser. There are many other ways that you can raise money and awareness. To learn more about our great fundraising ideas visit Fundraising Tips.
Can I donate more than my lunch money?
Yes, you can donate any amount that you choose. Every $1 you donate will provide enough food for 2 healthy meals. You can donate $10 to provide 20 healthy meals, $25 to provide 50 healthy meals or $50 to provide 100 meals.

There are only 5 people in my office, is there a point to participating?

Are Lunch Money Day donations tax receiptable?
Yes, all financial donations are tax receiptable. Online donations will be automatically receipted. If you donate cash in your office or school and wish to receive a tax receipt please ask your team lead for a tax receipt request form and complete your information. Raffle ticket purchases are not tax receiptable because when you purchase a raffle ticket you have a chance to win a prize. This is as per Canada Revenue Agency regulations. Do I have to count the money I have raised through my fundraiser?
No, we will count your money for you.
How do I get my money back to Second Harvest?
You can mail a cheque to Second Harvest or contact us to arrange for a Purolator Courier to pick-up your money and supplies free of charge. Contact Gillian Chin-Sang to arrange a pick-up.
